Bennie Moses-Mesubed is the Director of Student Diversity & Inclusion at Eastern Oregon University (EOU) in La Grande, OR. As such, she supports EOU’s efforts in building and sustaining a diverse, inclusive and culturally vibrant campus, which fosters a multicultural learning environment and a sense of belonging for students as indicated in university’s strategic plan to “support intercultural competency, inclusiveness, and diversity.” In this role, Bennie provides leadership and actively contributes to the development of resource materials, programs and activities that increase diversity awareness and learning on campus, as well as strategic direction, relationship building and programming advocacy for multicultural students and diversity-focused student organizations. Additionally, she oversees and manages the Student Diversity and Inclusion department which includes the Multicultural Center, International Student Services, National Student Exchange & Student Abroad program as well as the Native American Program.

Bennie began as an undergraduate at EOU where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics in 1999. She stayed to work in the Learning Center & Disability Services Program where she assisted in evaluating documentation and providing services for students with disabilities. Two years later, she transitioned to working directly with tutoring programs, overseeing the operations of the Learning Center and computer lab. In 2005, Bennie took a position in University Advancement at EOU as the coordinator for Alumni Programs where she served as a liaison for the EOU and its Alumni Association Board of Directors. She helped the Board to promote University’s mission and goals, developed and implemented alumni programs on and off-campus to create awareness and support to foundation activities, and served as the editor of the Mountaineer alumni magazine.

In 2007, Bennie became the Coordinator for the Multicultural Center overseeing services and events for the Multicultural Center as well as the development, operation, and management of minority student retention and recruitment activities for the University. Additionally, she provided leadership in the promotion and acceptance of a diverse campus environment in coordination with other campus units including the Diversity Committee, Student Affairs, Student Involvement, International Programs, Student Leadership Program, various student organizations, faculty, and community members.
